About Father’s Initiative

*All additions in RED, are the addendum to this curriculum due to COVID-19 limitations. WeFam United does plan to incorporate its in-person curriculum when permission is granted and such operations are deemed safe).

WeFam United is proud to present the inaugural year of our Father’s Initiative. This yearlong program focuses on turning the hearts of fathers back to stronger and healthier relationships with their children and community youth. Fathers in this program can seek assistance with legal help, job placement, social services as well as medical and mental health barriers. In order to remain a participant, fathers will be required to attend weekly group meetings, check-in independently throughout the week and participate in our monthly “Father’s Day” (Fathers Day TBD due to pandemic). This program will begin with a focal group of about ten men per eight week session. The program in its entirety is designed to remove barriers for each father and encourage them towards healthy relationships with their kids, families, and communities.

Sessions (Curriculum)

Each session will be held for a period of two months with weekly in-person meetings (Zoom for Business meetings). Our sessions are designed to target a number of fathers that share similarities in issue (i.e. Session One - Legal Aid; Session Two - Interpersonal Skill Building, etc). Although we focus our support in one specific area in an effort to thoroughly track improvement, fathers are always encouraged to bring forth any issues while in our program.

Weekly meetings will be conducted by our mentors for the duration of the eight weeks and will last from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. on Thursdays. Meetings will consist of both activities and lectures that will meet the needs of each father. Below is the curriculum in which we plan to accomplish this goal:

Off Days, Holidays, and Unit Hour Breakdown

  • [4 Weeks Off] Christmas - Thanksgiving - First Week of School - Spring Break for Kids

  • [Off Days] Birthdays - Kids Birthdays - Special Occasion for kids

  • [Unit Hour break down/week + Fathers Day] (Sessions 2.0 hours). Fathers Day (6.0 Hours). Follow Up calls each week (2.0 hours). Prep Work, Job Search, Strategic Planning, Reviews, etc. (6.0-10.0 hours)

*“Father’s Day”

On the last Sunday of every month our “Father’s Day Sunday” will be held. This is a day where the fathers will come together for an afternoon with their kids, family, and community. It will be an enjoyable experience as well as a-breathe-of-fresh-air for the fathers to be in the midst of sports, music, food, laughter, and fun.

Independent Check-Ins

Once a week our fathers are required to check-in independently. The fathers will have contact with the WeFam Team to ensure that focus to meet each outcome for the fathers is accomplished

Dad-to-Dad Mentoring

Fathers meet in a round table setting. They discuss life, family, business, opportunity, victorious wins, and all positive dialog that may create partnerships or direct help to another father’s barrier.
